The UniSolar US-5 is a 5 watt solar battery charger, appropriate for permanent installations, where durability is a prime concern, and battery maintenance or charging small amp hour capacity batteries is the job at hand. These panels are virtually unbreakable, with an aluminum frame, and a stainless steel backing to which the triple junction semiconductor material is bonded, and then encapsulated with a UV resistant polymer coating. There is no glass front to the US-5. The proprietary solar material in UniSolar panels is more efficient in higher operating temperatures. These can be used individually in 12 volt applications, or series/parallel connected for higher voltage and amperage. One Unisolar US-5 panel is appropriately sized to maintain two group 24 to group 31 deep cycle or starting batteries. At 300 milliamps of output current, they can be used to charge low current draw applications, or small sealed lead acid batteries in the 3 to 12 amp hour range. A controller would be advisable in this low an amp hour battery range.

UniSolar panels are excellent for telecommunications, well pumping, electric fence charging, gate openers, traffic control, remote signs, complete solar home systems, and most any other solar application. They are uniquely suitable where impact from animals, hail, rocks, flying debris, etc. may compromise a solar panel's integrity. This includes vandalism prone areas or installations. We prefer these for remote telecommunication installations, or security for remote locations, for these reasons. All in all, the UniSolar line of solar panels provide a reliable source of solar power with unsurpassed durability for a reasonable price. The smaller panels (64 watts and down) were sporadically available for some time, due to reallocation of solar manufacturing assembly lines to higher wattage panels for world demand. They are now available again, so don't miss out on our special pricing. Thanks.
Product Description
The UNI-SOLAR® modules are exceptionally durable. They are encapsulated in
UV-stabilized polymers and framed with anodized aluminum. The Polymer encapsulation
includes EVA and ETFE. A Galvalume® steel backing plate provides stiffness.
Bypass diodes are connected across each cell, allowing the modules to produce
power even when partially shaded (exception: US-5). The US-64 has a weather resistant
UNI-SOLAR® junction box with knock-outs for customization by the customer. All other
US-modules have a potted pig tail with integral wiring. The cable is a 2-conductor
18 AWG with insulation rated at 158º F. The UNI-SOLAR® US-64 modules are appropriate
for all applications from simple single module requirements to larger grid-connected
applications.
Why Do UNI-SOLAR® Products Outperform Others?
All solar panels are rated in terms of peak power output (watts). Outdoors, under
normally higher operating temperatures, solar panel performance changes, depending on
temperature, solar spectrum (light color) and related effects. UNI-SOLAR® products
are less affected by temperature than monocrystalline or polycrystalline solar
technology products. The result is up to 20% more delivered energy.
Quality Assurance, Proven Reliability
UNI-SOLAR® modules comply with the following
qualification tests:
